Payroll tax refers to taxes an employer pays when the employer has employees.

These taxes are:

  • FICA tax
  • Federal unemployment tax
  • State unemployment tax

These taxes, along with taxes withheld from employee paychecks on behalf of the employee, must be deposited with the government periodically. How often the taxes must be deposited depends on how much tax is being paid.
